Have you ever heard of Henry “Box” Brown? Henry was a slave in Virginia in the early 19th century who MAILED himself to freedom!

He literally, mailed himself across the country with the help of a free black man, James C. A. Smith and white shoemaker, Samuel A. Smith (they were not related). It cost Brown $86 dollars to mail himself in a 3ft long by 2ft deep by 2ft wide box. The box made it through wagon, steamboat, railroad, wagon, ferry, and wagon again until its final destination of Philadelphia! Shout out to Mr. Brown for thinking outside the box…or would it be inside the box? Lol
