Annie Turnbo

Annie Minerva Turnbo Malone was recorded as one of America’s first women Millionaires of the 20th century. Much like our earlier honoree, Madam CJ Walker, Annie Malone amassed her fortune by creating hair care specifically tailored to African American women.

Now some sources say Annie Malone was first and some say Madam CJ Walker was first but I don’t think any of that matters. What we DO know is that there are at least TWO African American WOMEN millionaires in the early 20th century, and that’s pretty amazing to me.
